GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bri Eilman’s (Omaha, Neb./Westside (Nebraska)) unassisted goal from 40 yards out broke a scoreless tie and lifted Guilford College past Greensboro College, 1-0, in women’s soccer Wednesday night. Guilford senior Bree Vohs (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake (Anne Arundel C.C.)) made six saves in goal for her first college shutout.
Both teams had 12 shots in the evenly played match, but none was bigger than Eilman’s late in the second half. She collected a loose ball in the middle of the park, turned and looped it just over the head of Greensboro keeper Katie Allegro and just under the crossbar with 5:31 to play.
Allegro finished with five saves for the Pride (1-2).
The contest marked Guilford’s (1-3) first in the Armfield Athletic Center and the Quakers’ first night home match.
