“The Beast” Peguese has a feast, as Pirates get defensive against Aggies

On his return to Greensboro Hampton DE/LB Brandon Peguese(Grimsley HS) had 6 tackles and 2 sacks in helping the Pirates defeat the Aggies of N.C. A&T 24-14.

Greensboro – LaMarcus Coker ran for 112 yards on 24 carries and quarterback Herbert Vines threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, as Hampton handed North Carolina A&T its first loss of the season with a 24-14 victory Saturday night.

The Aggies (2-1, 1-1 MEAC) started strong, as quarterback Carlton Fears found Terrence Whitaker for a 29-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The Pirates (3-1, 1-0 MEAC), however, scored the next 24 points of the game. Vines twice found Damon McDaniel on touchdowns of 62 and 23 yards in the second quarter as Hampton took a 14-7 lead into halftime. McDaniel finished with 104 yards on five receptions.

The Pirates defense got into the scoring act in the second half as Jordan Stovall intercepted a pass from freshman Lewis Kindle and returned it five yards to give Hampton a 24-7 lead.

Sophomore running back Mike Mayhew led the Aggies with 77 yards rushing on 11 carries, including a 59-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
