Toney Baker and James Perry III on the same surface Saturday in Raleigh

Toney Baker(Ragsdale HS) and James Tre’ Perry III(Dudley HS) were both on the big stage at Raleigh’s Carter Finley Stadium on Satruday evening.

Baker for the Red and White of N.C. State and Tre’ Perry for the Running Bulldogs of Gardner Webb. N.C. State topped GW 45-14, but both Baker and Perry led their respective teams in several statistical categories.

Russell Wilson the Wolfpack quarterback had a huge day going 26-36 passing for 345 yards and 4TD’s and the young QB pretty much had himself a career-day.

For Toney Baker, the touchdown maker from Jamestown and the Ragsdale Tigers, it was back to business as usual for man known as Toney “The Tiger”.

After missing right at two years due to injuries, Toney is off to a great start in 2009 and he showed his old form again on Saturday with Baker getting the rout started by capping each of the Wolfpack’s first two lengthy possessions with touchdown runs. His spinning, 11-yard scoring run closed out a 10-play opening drive, and he followed that by plowing in from 2 yards out to make it 14-0.

Baker is back and he finished with 71 yards on 10 carries and the two TD’s. Baker also caught three passes for an additional 36 yards for the Pack.

James Tre’ Perry led Gardner Webb in receiving with 28 yards on 4 receptions. Tre’ Perry is doing OK at GW. Tre’ led the Dudley Panthers to the state high school championship game back in 2004 . Tre’ was the Panthers QB in the loss to Boiling Springs Crest, but after that season ended he followed that up with All-Conference honors as the starting shortstop for the Dudley baseball team.

Perry was an excellent baseball player and he has made the Panthers proud with efforts on the field playing as the key wide receiver for the Runnnig Bulldogs of Gardner Webb.
