High School football Saturday morning rewind

After a dismal start to the season on the HS football picks, we have gone 16-3 over the last two weeks after last night’s 9-2 effort. Can anybody top those numbers? If so, just bring it to the table and we can begin hashing this thing out…..

The Grimsley-SEG game still has me shaking my head and all my hair is starting to fall out after games like this one.(35-0 G over SEG) What is going on here? Is the turn-around by Grimsley for real or is it a one-week wonder????? The fans have to be wondering and guessing what is going to happen next, as Western Guilford moves on over to Grimsley this Friday night after a home loss to the Page Pirates, and we will be hearing more about that game from Paul or Joe later on today.

How about the matchup that is coming up next Friday with Northern Guilford at Eastern Alamance? Were both teams setting the table last night, for the that Mid-State 3-A battle, or what? Northern blasted Burlington Williams 57-14 and Eastern Alamance pounded Eastern Guilford, 69-26……..This will be a hot one down at EA next Friday night. The Keenan Allen Show will be on the road in Alamance County!

Dudley topped the much-improving Smith Golden Eagles 22-0 and Smith has their defense down pat for the most part and they just need to find some consistency on offense with their young QB Codie Davis running the show with Hughes, Milner, Jordan and Ebron as his weapons. Boatang, Coleman and company looked mighty tough for Smith on “D”. Coach Rodney Brewington has his boys headed in the right direction. Read more about the Dudley efforts in our post on the Coach from Notre Dame coming to the game last night, to take a longer look at David Amerson and he may have found some other top talent running around out there last night too, at the Tarp.(Tarpley Stadium)

That Eastern Alamance(6-0) #3 in State 3-A poll vs. Norhern Guilford(4-1) will be mighty big next week and last night in some of the other action it was Glenn hanging on to win at NWG, 21-20. NWG now at (4-2), will be at SWG next Friday and the Cowboys got clobbered by WS Reynolds 31-0 last night. Ragsdale throttled WS Parkland 42-0 last evening and they will host a much-tougher East Forsyth next Friday. EF coming off a 20-14 loss to High Point Central and HPC(5-1) is off next week along with Page(5-1)and NEG(3-3).

Southeast(2-4) will be over at Smith(3-3), while Dudley(5-1) travels to face Southern Alamance, Southern Guilford(2-3) will host Randleman, Eastern Guilford(0-5) visits Morehead and High Point Andrews(2-3) goes to Lexington. Eastern Guilford’s Josh Morehead continues to play outstanding football, even though his Wildcats can’t find the victories this season, or even the Victory as of Week #6…..

Send us some comments about last night’s games and what we might see in Week #7. Will Northern take out EA, is Grimsley now for real, and is SEG done????? GSO wants to know and GSO.com and GSPN will be right on top of it all, we hope……

  1. my son plays for EA and i watch them last night EG isnt a bad team to be 0-5 scored 14 on EA starting D, if you got EG losing all there games I would change that. I pick EA over Northern and EG over Morehead

  2. Even though Eastern Guilford is losing all their games so far, their Wildcat man, Josh Morehead, is still on of the best high school football players in the state.

I believe Josh had a hand in all 4 EG scores last night vs. Eastern Alamance.

Josh Morehead was supposed to be taking a visit to N.C. State for the Wolfpack-Pitt Panther game today in Raleigh……

  3. How about Southern Guilford’s Warren Scott, He had 275 yd rushing & 4 touichdowns friday night against Trinity. He has on over 830 yards rushing in five games plus a lot of return yards. At only 5’3″ he’s a power house. Check him out.

  4. He is very talented however he is piling up yardage against weak teams. I tend to look at talented kids and see what they do against other talented kids.
