GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s Jordan Nelson (Hudson, N.C./WestCaldwell) tied a school record with three interceptions and teammate Mike Williams (Mebane, N.C./Orange) rushed for 181 yards and two scores in the Quakers’ 48-6 football win over Southern Virginia University Friday night.

The Quakers (1-4) forced six turnovers in the game, the most since a 32-23 road win over Catholic University Nov. 3, 2001. Nelson, a junior cornerback, recorded three second-half interceptions to tie the school record set by O.J. Batts ’04 versus Randolph-Macon College Oct. 7, 2000.

He also scored on a one-yard keeper in the first quarter that made ita 14-0 game.

Both scoring passes went to junior running back Justin Parker (Greensboro, N.C./Southern Guilford), who also had a short touchdown run to finish with a career-high three touchdowns in the game. Parker led all receivers with seven grabs while teammate Tyler Hasty (Seagrove, N.C./Eastern Randolph) made four catches for a career-high 118 yards.
