Guilford’s Bri Eilman Named Guilford Student-Athlete of the Week‏

Greensboro, N.C. –Sophomore Bri Eilman (Omaha, Neb./Westside (Nebraska-Lincoln)) of the women’s soccer team collected the Guilford College Student-Athlete of the Week Award Monday, presented by the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The award covers games from the week of Oct. 5-12.

A 5-5 midfielder, Eilman paced the Quakers in their only match of the week with a goal and an assist in Guilford’s 3-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory at league-rival Hollins University Oct. 7. She finished with a match-high three points and helped Guilford to its third win in four outings.

Eilman’s goal marked her team-leading fifth tally of the season and gave her 14 points, also a club high. Her four assists also rank first for the Quakers. Eilman stands second among ODAC assists leaders and ninth in points and points per match (1.27) through contests of Oct. 9.

Coach Eric Lewis’ Quakers (5-8, 3-3 ODAC) have won three of their last four matches and return to action Tuesday (10/13) at league-rival Randolph College at 7:00 p.m. Guilford entertains Averett University the following night in a nonconference match beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Student-Athlete of the Week Award is presented by Guilford’s SAAC, which is comprised of representatives from each of the school’s 20 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school’s student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive, and the start of a new program, Champs Life Skills. The Champs Life Skills program promotes intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the campus educational program and the student-athlete as an integral part of the student body. Its seeks to increase student-athletes’ community involvement, and to engage the Guilford community with the athletic department.
