Greensboro blanks Guilford in men’s soccer

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brandon Perkins and Christian Johannesson scored in the first 22 minutes and Greensboro College’s defense made the goals stand in a 2-0 nonconference soccer win at Guilford College Monday night.

The Pride (3-6-2) jumped on top when Perkins drilled a shot from 20 yards out in the fourth minute for a quick 1-0 lead.

The margin doubled in the 22nd minute when David Andreski’s corner kick slipped through Guilford goalie Patrick Childs’ hands and Johannesson headed it home.

Guilford (7-8-1) had a few scoring chances, but managed only one shot on goal in their third straight shutout loss.

Greensboro owned a 16-10 edge in shots. Junior Chad Adams made one save for the shutout and his third win in four appearances.

The Quakers return to action Saturday (10/17) at Hampden-Sydney College.

The Pride plays a USA South match at Averett on Wednesday.
