Limbaugh blaming others for being left out of the NFL owners loop

Limbaugh: Rams bid fallout is ‘Obama’s America on full display’

ST. LOUIS — Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh blames others for him being dropped from the group that’s trying to buy the St. Louis Rams.

On his syndicated show Thursday, Limbaugh said he was approached by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts earlier this year about participating in a Rams bid. Limbaugh also said Checketts assured him that his involvement as a minority investor had been vetted by the NFL.

“I said to him at this meeting, ‘Are you aware of the firestorm?’ He said, ‘We wouldn’t have approached you if we hadn’t taken care of that,'” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh added that Checketts had told him his involvement had been cleared at the “highest levels of the NFL.”

Despite being sacked, Limbaugh said he still loved the NFL and probably would be “the biggest non-paid promoter of the sport.”

  1. Whatever, Rush.

For what it’s worth, I stuck with the Rams when they left my beloved So Cal.

If Rush came on board, I would’ve dropped them in a heartbeat.

  2. It is amazing that Rush will talk about others and put his nose into matters that he has no direct connection with and flat out call for the removal of people in specific positions but when the same process is used against him he starts running around sucking his thumb. Unfortunate he will still win a lot of points with “his” audience over this event because it will only deepen their misguided view of the world. This country and this site would be better off without these type of people in the world always splitting people on one side or other. Sports is one of the few areas in our country that we all have developed a common ground to meet, play and celebrate our beliefs, sportsmanship, and love for each other. Please keep Rush out of our sports and away from positive sites like greensborosports.com .

  3. What’s wrong with him being an owner? He has the same rights as anyone else. So if you don’t like a man’s view he can’t participate? Or is it if he doesn’t share YOUR view? I guess since he does support free healthcare for illegals and the umeployed, the Cap and Trade bill, and the union bill he’s a bad guy. Maybe Obama could get involved like he did in Boston.

  4. Gary, he can be an owner all he wants. But if he buys MY TEAM, I’m not supporting said team.

You can chide the NFL for not wanting him in the club. But he would be bad for their business.

I don’t think Tee Tee was supporting, or even mentioned, Obama’s policies. Why bring that up?

My opinion is that it’s sad that so many Americans look up to such a divisive and hateful guy.

  5. Bob L,
    Well said Gary….
And Obama winning the Nobel Piece Prize was deserved gimmie a break what a joke but Anyone who wants to own a team should be able to. It’s not like Rush would have any say on what happens with the team he just a small portion of the ownership and what he said about McNabb years ago was true at the time, as McNabb now is one of the best 6-7 QB’s in the NFL and that is why people don’t want Rush is b/c it has alot to do what he said about McNabb.

  6. This man should have the right to buy any team that he can afford. This part of the potential purchase should not carry any weight on him buying or not being allowed to be a partner. If we allow or not allow business or potential business partners to be owners in the NFL or any other business based or opinions or things that have been said or supposedly said then our country is going in the wrong direction. This is not about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize or deserving it. This is not about Cap and Trade. Or if some fans will support the team or not. It is not about comments made about McNabb. The man is a talk show host with opinions and he has to be spirited to retain his audience.
This is about the right to buy what we can afford. Besides most of the owners of professional sports are conservatives and support free market business principles. Isaid MOST not all. Some Americans buy what they can not afford which is why we are were we are with these bail outs for banks and lending companies.
Look at it for what it is not what HE says or supposedly says. He should be allowed to be a partner.

  7. He can own whatever…He should have never made the comments about the NFL and the players.

Why would he want to own a piece of something he detested?

Case of he opened his mouth and in went his foot.

    You have to look at what he says…it is a part of business marketing;
Don’t tell the world you despise Frosted Flakes and then try and buy a piece of the company it’s hypocritical.

  8. Here’s the deal. The same principles that Rush represents and believes in are why he is being dropped. Rush on an ownership has the potential to cost NFL owners revenue loss. It’s simple math. If you and I were part of an ownership team & something in our pasts had the potential to cost the NFL revenue, we would be dropped also. Please don’t give Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, & Demorris Smith this much credit. It’s all about ‘Big Business’ & bottom line. Rush is not good for the bottom line.

Also, there are those of you who will argue that Rush deserves a second chance. Look at Mike vick, Ray Lewis, Dante Stallworth, Leonard Litte, etc. Rules have always been different for people with different levels of responsibility. For example: In the military officers and enlisted are held to a different set of standards. Enlisted personnel who receive a DUI endure a tough career setback. If an Officer receives a DUI, his career is over. Leadership has always been held to a different set of standards than the rank and file. This has been true since the beginning of time.

  9. Rush this isn’t about Conservatism against Liberalism this time, the fact is there are plenty of Conservatives in and associated with the NFL . Get Real !!This is personal dude …. The NFL just doesn’t want YOU. It’s quite simply a business decision they have made , so don’t camouflage this one with the politics of Conservatism vs Liberalism, quite frankly that the real NFL fans actually try to break awy from on NFL Sundays , take some personal resonsibility like you preach on your show!!

  10. Well said, Brannon, Bob L, Tee Tee,

Saw a quote about Rush claiming there was a lot of hat in the media, NFL, etc.

Gimme a break, turn on AM 600 and you will hear hate, vitriol, etc.

  11. The existing owners are the ones that vote on the ownership for all previous potential owners and that is the way it should occur this time. It has not been a small group that decides this as in the past. It is hard to determine if the NFL wants him or just a select few atr the top. But, he supposedly is a very big NFL fan.
