What ever happened to Nomar Garciaparra?

With the Series coming around, you can’t help but think about Nomar Garciaparra and how he could have had his chances for World Series glory, with the Red Sox or maybe even the Dodgers.

Nomar never got to the World Series with the Boston Red Sox and he was sent from LA to Oakland before he had a chance to get there with the Dodgers.

The year Nomar Garciaparra left the BoSox for the Chicago Cubs, Boston won the World Series and Nomar and the Cubs lost out in the Wildcard hunt.

Nomar has gone far, but he has never made it to the Big One. He was with the Red Sox, left there and joined the Cubs, out of there and became a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers and just this year(2009) he ended up in Oakland with the A’s…..

No-no for Nomar on the Series, but he still is the only player in MLB history to hit 2 Grand Slams in the same game at home.(He is the only man to man to achieve that feat and did you know that Nomar is Ramon spelled backwards? Ramon was his dad’s name.) He also is married to women’s soccer great, Mia Hamm, and they have two kids.

The best Nomar tributes may have come from the Boston Teens on Saturday Night Live with Rachel Dratch and Jimmy Fallon. With Dratch and Fallon, as Zazu and Sully, everything they did was done with one thing always in mind. NO-MAH!!!!! The Boston Teens thrived with No-mah/Nomar in their lives and he was their Universe…..

Everything they did was about Nomar Garciaparra. Eat your heart out Jason Varitek!

And watch out for the Oakland A’s in 2010…………
