  1. Looks like anything over 2000 would have to go 5A or build more schools and lower the attendance. Very few kids even make the team in schools this big, and the ones that do are much better than other schools since there’s more students to choose from.

  2. Had no idea some schools are that large. Bigger than many colleges. Lot of difference between size of schools in 4AA.

  3. I think one thing that we all should be grateful for is that we have many local programs in Guilford County (along with the private schools such as Greensboro Day) that have proven over and over that our teams can and do compete and win against any of the programs in the state. We are the 3rd largest county by population (about 475,000) but Wake (875,000) and Mecklenburg (900,000) are much larger (Forsyth is about 345,000 if you want to know). Thus for every 1 good player that we can produce, they can “by the #s” produce 2 good players. This is also one of the elements that always frustrated me about so many Guilford Co and Forsyth Co schools playing in conferences with schools from Caswell, Stokes, Davie, Yadkin or Randolph Co. There are more people living between me and the grocery than what some of these counties have total. Anyway I am happy to see a lot of our programs in the different sports looking for those tough out of conference match ups in football, soccer, basketball or whatever the sport. Just like I am a Carolina fan first but I will also pull for the ACC teams against out of conference teams. I also pull for the Guilford Co (or greater Triad) teams over teams from outside of Guilford Co or the general Triad. Now let’s go win some Championship !!!

  4. This playoff system is a money maker for the state but cost some schools a lot of $$. A few years ago when they went to the expanded playoff system there were 0-10 teams in the playoffs. They should have just made a 5a. How does a small school with a bad record benefit from travelling 200 miles and getting pounded by the number 1 seed? The travel expenses a far greater than eny money they could get from splitting the gate after the state takes their cut.
