Guilford golfer Creghan Named ODAC Golfer of the Week‏

GUILFORD’S BRIAN CREGHAN LANDS WEEKLY HONOR

Greensboro, N.C. –Guilford College senior Brian Creghan (Radnor, Pa./Conestoga) won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Golfer of the Week Award for the week ending Nov. 1. This marks the first time in his career that he has won the ODAC’s weekly prize.
Creghan’s fourth-place finish in the 90-golfer field helped the Quakers place third in the 17-team field in last week’s Tom and Bettie O’Briant Memorial held at The Cardinal in Greensboro, N.C.

He recorded rounds of 73 and 76, which tied him and teammate Peter Latimer for the lowest 36-hole score (149) among 32 ODAC competitors. The performance marks Creghan’s second top-10 finish in his last three tournaments and his first top-five finish of the season. He finished the fall with a 73.5 stroke average in 12 rounds, the Quakers’ second-lowest average.

Guilford, ranked fourth in the Oct. 14th Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Division III Poll, was one of seven ranked teams in the O’Briant field. The Quakers placed sixth or better in all five of their fall tournaments with four top-four finishes.

The team has begun its winter hiatus, but will be back in action Feb 22-23 when it competes in the Johnny Palmer Invitational in New London, N.C.
