Greensboro College women’s soccer gets nine awards, Men get four

The Greensboro College Pride women’s soccer team garnered nine all conference honors presented by the USA South today. Leading the way for The Pride were first team honorees Tessa Hall (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) and Kelli Viana (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South).

Hall, a midfielder, is tied for team lead in assists (7) and points (17). A senior, this is her third straight first team selection and her fourth all conference honor. A junior defender, Viana has started all 18 games on a Pride back line that allows just 0.98 goals per game.

Selected to the conference’s second team was freshman Cara Wilcox (Charlotte, NC/Mallard Creek). The forward leads Greensboro with eight goals.

Goalie Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) and two freshmen–Mary Reinhardt (Winston-Salem, NC/Mount Tabor) and Meredith Kelly (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance)–made the third team. Allegro has seven shutouts and an .809 save percentage. Forward Reinhardt is tied for the team lead in points (17). Kelly has four goals and four assists in the midfield.

Picked USAS honorable mention were midfielder Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, Md/Severna Park) and defender Jessica Kile (Salisbury, MD/Parkside). A sophomore with one goal and five assists, this is Gallaher’s second straight all conference award. Defender Kile played in 17 games and is one of five Pride freshmen to be recognized today.

Freshman Jessica Jameson (Columbus, OH/Davidson) was tabbed to the USA South All Sportsmanship team.

The Pride (10-7-1) plays a USA South semifinal match on Friday. Third-seeded GC faces second seed CNU at 2:30 p.m.in Martinsville, Va.

Greensboro College Men:
Greensboro College earned four All USA South honors announced by the conference today. Andrew Clark (Ottawa, Ont/Ashbury College), Denis Geoffrey (Elon, NC/Western Alamance), Ross Solomon (Swampscott, MA/Lawrence Academy) and Jorge Campos Diaz (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) were the GC student-athletes recognized.

Earning second team recognition was midfielder Clark. A senior captain, he tallied two times and also dished two assists for GC.

Geoffrey was selected to the USAS third team. The junior forward led The Pride in goals (4) and points (10).
Solomon, a junior, earned honorable mention distinction. The defender played in 15 games for the GC back line.

The Pride’s selection to the USA South All Sportsmanship unit was Campos Diaz, a sophomore defender.

GC ended its season with a loss at Averett on Tuesday in the conference quarterfinals.
