Northern Guilford 7
Overhills 1

*****Next up is Cardinal Gibbons.*****

The Grimsley Whirlies touched base earlier in the day and said come over and check out our game tonight in the first round of the playoffs and we did and if you have other scores please send them our way…

This result should set up a second round matchup with Grimsley vs. Ragsdale in a rematch of a game that Grimsley won earlier in the year, 1-0 over the Tigers……

Page 7
North Davidson 1

*****Page will play RJ Reynolds at home in the 2nd round.
RJR were 2-1 winners over Charlotte Providence.*****

Grimsley 3
East Forsyth 0

Grimsley goals:
#1 Alec Rotunda-1st Half
#2 Josh Katz-2nd Half
#3 Nate Stevens-2nd Half

Grimsley keeper credited with the shutout:
Carter Smith

Grimsley defense led by Peter Byrne and Alex Holt and mid-field play and corner kicks controlled by Nick Hastings. Very impressed with all the Whirlies and their effort, and especially the hustle and work of Nick Hastings…..The kid can cover a lot of ground…..

Officials/Referees:
Mark Guenther
Ed O’Keefe

*****I did not know the 3rd ref, but I do know Guenther from other sports over the years and Mr. O’Keefe is father of EJ O’Keefe, Claire O’Keefe and Katy O’Keefe, former Western Guilford soccer standouts and Guenther was a standout in football, basketball and baseball at WG.*****

This write-up on the Whirlies from one of our members of the Whirlie Nation:

Whirlies win 3 – 0 against East Forsyth. Great ball control and aggressive defense led the Whirlies. Goals by Nate Stephens, Josh Katz and Alec Rotunda led the Whirlies offense.

Another great defensive effort by Alex Holt, Kevin Wilson, Peter Byrne and Carter Smith held them scoreless in goal.

As well, Blake Stewart, Nick Hastings, Aniekan Udoka, and Christian Holden kept the East Forsyth attach in check all night. Great win for the Whirlies.

2nd round will be this Saturday at Jamieson Stadium against Ragsdale. Time to be announced. Should be a great matchup.

Web site note:
Soccer in the day at Grimsley Saturday with GHS-RHS and football with Greensboro College that night and Grimsley-Dudley football the night before(Friday)…Busy weekend coming up at Jamieson Stadium…..
