Prospectus on Oak Ridge Military Academy players for 2009/2010 season

I haven’t had a chance to do a Coming out of Practice on the ORMA basketball team yet, but I did receive this prospectus on their players, for this season, by way of E-mail this afternoon.

Class of 2010

Jay Canty – 6’5″ small forward that has great athleticism and length and finishes in transition and getting to the basket. Strong slasher that is improving his three point shot and is a great rebounder. He will be counted upon as a leader of this young team.. Committed to Xavier University.

Asad Lamot – 6’2″ combo guard – fundamentally sound, a leader on the floor, can shoot the 3, slashes well, great defender. Hardest worker in our program. Mid major Division I prospect. Great student with a 3.5 GPA.

Class of 2011

Jacob Lawson – 6’8″ forward – tremendous athlete with soft hands and good touch around the basket. He runs the floor and finished exceptionally well. Can also step out and shoot the 3. Top 50 player nationally in his class. High major Division I prospect with several offers from those level schools already. Good student with a 3.1 GPA.

Michael Neal – 6’2″ point guard – very strong handle and sees the court well. Can shoot the 3 and finishes great going to the basket. Mid to High Major Division I prospect.

Justin Mitchell – 6’5″ small forward that can shoot the ball consistently to 18 feet. Good hands and athleticism allow him to play above the rim. Needs to improve his strength but is a Division II to low Division I prospect.

Class of 2012

Carlos Rankins – 6’1″ combo guard – strong ballhandler and good 3 pt. shooter who finishes in transition and can really score the basketball. Mid major Division I prospect.

Joseph Uchebu – 7’0″ 240 lb forward/center – Strong inside presence that can rebound, finish and block shots. Also has decent ballhandling skills and can run the floor. High Major Division I prospect.

Nolen Gerald – 5’9″ combo guard – Highly skilled guard that can score the ball and shoot the 3 point shot. Needs to improve his strength, but is certainly a Division I prospect down the road.

  1. Yeah WOG has everybody but John Wall. They still have CJ Leslie 5 star recruit and Bishop Daniels and they have some more talent.

  2. Looks like to me they have 8 Division 1 players. Does anyone else in the area have that many? That along with the legendary Coach K must mean they can’t be beat. Maybe Buzz should get down here and look at these guys.Or maybe they are all too good to play at ASU!

  3. Didn’t one of the former players sign @ ASU? And, yes my guess is that several will be too good to play @ ASU. That’s just my opinion, however.

  4. They have 2 games this weekend. One on Friday night @ Quality Education. Academy at 6 o’clock. Then on Saturday also at Quality Education Academy at 6 o’clock vs God’s Academy from somewhere in Texas I think. I have to work Friday but I will be there Saturday.

  5. Know one staff member who said teachers who are owed money have been paid some but missed one payment a few weeks ago and made it up but missed a second payment and trying to make it up shortly. Bigger problem is coming up with the money due on the note on the debt to avoid forclosure. They are hoping new president can raise it quickly. Don’t know anything about AD’s or assistants on coaching staff.
