Southeast Guilford grad Godsoe making Greensboro look good

Greensboro’s Eugene Godsoe Named National College Swimmer of the Week… Again Stanford Senior Has Two Fastest Backstroke Times

November 18, 2009— Stanford senior Eugene Godsoe was named CollegeSwimming.com’s National Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season following his triple-distance backstroke wins at the meet in Berkeley, CA last week.

Godsoe posted the nation’s fourth-fastest 100 backstroke (48.26) and 200 backstroke (1:47.00) times in the country, sweeping the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke events. He is the reigning Pac-10 Champion in the 100 and 200 backstrokes and is a 10-time All-American.

When in Greensboro, Godsoe trains with Coach Kevin Thornton of GSA. He is the son of Gene and Yoko Godsoe and a 2006 graduate of Southeast Guilford High School.

  1. I would like to add the Eugene is also a product of the Greensboro Swimming Association. He also swam in the Community Swim Association summer league for SE Swim Club.
