  1. I must say watching Bianca and Nikki play was a joy. Bianca played for Coach Whitaker’s travel team and it was joy to see her again. Outstanding player. Now the men’s game was a little painful to watch. 10 mins into the game it was 40-3 guilford. Guilford has a good group of players.

  2. I am with you. It was really a lot of fun to watch Nikki Wilborn and Bianca Richburg.

Wilborn can really shoot(threes/etc.) and Richburg is a player on the inside and she can hit free throws….Two very talented young ladies.

If anybody played for Coach Whitaker then they will be playing hard and giving you an all-out effort every night……

It was fun to see Josh Pittman from Trinity out there for Guilford College. He hit for 50 last year in a high school game at Northern Guilford versus Reynolds and the kid can flat out play….I was also impressed with the Tobi Akinsola kid one of John Wall’s old teammates at Word of God. He could be an excellent backup player for Guilford.

There are a few of Guilford’s regulars on the men’s squad that probably could have played reserve roles at DI schools, at least at their current talent level as juniors and seniors…..

  3. For a long horrible while, Greensboro couldn’t buy a bucket. From airballs to shots rimming out to missed free throws, they were polar opposites of the Guilford boys who seemed to knock down every “in the paint” and midrange shot. Throw in Guilford’s sharpshooters (Pittman will be scary 4 yrs from now!) hitting threes and we were pointing at the scoreboard like “Wait! How’d they get 39 already?” With 9:32 left in the first half, Guilford already had 40+ points. The Greensboro fans were loud and rowdy but a run like that to open the game would take the wind out of most fans’ sails. These kids just found other stuff to chant about Guilford’s cheerleaders, the Soup Bowl, or what exactly is a Quaker.

The funniest moment of the night was when they had the little kids run out and put on the Greensboro College shorts, shirt, and shoes then hit a layup. After the one kid hit his shot, all the Guilford kids yelled, “Suit him up! He can start for [Greensboro]!” Indeed, with his one basket, he had hit just as many baskets at Greensboro had.

When Greensboro buys into the fact that you can only match a talented disciplined team like Guilford with similar discipline, they will be much more competitive. Shooting one long jumper after another leading to long rebounds (which led to fast breaks) was one of the reasons Greensboro College just could not get going. Trying to match Guilford College shot for shot is like me saying I will match Manny Pacquiao punch for punch. If Manny fights like Manny usually does, I won’t even get to throw too many punches. Guilford just got to do everything that they do well and Greensboro never had a chance.

  4. The way Guilford played last night, I would be surprised if Elon, UNCG, NC AT or High Point beat them.

Seriously, what would the point spread be?

    Keep it REAL
