College hoops: Ladies so not lucky as ODAC-rival Roanoke rattles Guilford

Women’s college hoops:

Greensboro, N.C.– Roanoke’s Jaleesa Osborne scored 18 points as the Maroons overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Guilford 55-48 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game on Tuesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field house.

The Maroons (3-0. 1-0 ODAC) started slow as Guilford built an early 6 point lead in the first two minutes of the game, but rebounded to take a seven point lead of their own behind the scoring of Caitlin Long and Nicci Moats. The Quakers (2-2, 0-1 ODAC) recovered behind an 18-6 run to take a 27-23 advantage into halftime.

Roanoke scored nine of the first 13 second half points to take the lead and never relinquished it for the remainder of the game.

The Quakers were led by Jazlyn Gibbs’ 11 points and Alexa Williams’ nine points and and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Guilford returns to action Monday (11/30) when they travel to ODAC-foe Emory & Henry for a 7:00 p.m. game.
