College hoops: Quakers capture Cougars-#3 Guilford College 81, Averett University 56‏

Men’s college hoops:

Greensboro, N.C. — Guilford scored a convincing 81-56 non-conference victory over visiting Averett Tuesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House. Tyler Sanborn recorded a game-high double-double of 19 points and 18 rebounds.

Sanborn helped Guilford (3-0) build a 37-22 halftime advantage and saw the lead swell to as many as 31 points with 5:21 left in the second half. He was joined by two other Quakers who also scored in double figures for the game, including sophomore Gabriel Lowder, who hit for 14 points and senior Clay Henson who added 12 points.

The Quakers, who improved to 3-0 with the win, are ranked third this week in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll.

The Cougars (0-4) were paced aby Chris Pagentine’s 11 points.

The Quakers return to action Wednesday (12/2) when they travel to play non-conference North Carolina Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m.
