Pride pound Wasps and take the sting out of Emory and Henry

Greensboro, NC — Adam Powell (Stuart, FL/Jensen Beach High) had a game-high 20 points and teammate Walter Brady (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs) had a double-double as Greensboro College defeated Emory & Henry, 75-59, at Hanes Gym on Wednesday night. The win was the fourth straight for The Pride, which improved to 4-3.

Brady was 8-10 from the field and had 6 offensive boards. Powell shot 9-14 and made two three-pointers. Jason Baker (Detroit, MI/Anchor Bay Prep) added 15 points and 9 rebounds and R.J. Smith dished a game-high 6 assists for The Pride.

Terrance Grigg had 15 points and Josh Rigney added 11 for Emory & Henry (1-5).

GC led 39-27 at halftime. The home team led by 19 points–its biggest margin–after a three-pointer by Powell made the score 46-27 with 19:22 remaining. After a trey by Rigney, the Wasps cut the score to 51-45 with 11:51 left, but got no closer.

The Pride shot 53-percent (32-69) from the field. The Wasps were 25-60 (36-percent). Greensboro had 34 rebounds to 33 for the visitors. The Pride committed just 9 and forced 11 turnovers.

GC’s 16-point win was the greatest winning margin of the season. The Pride next plays at LaGrange on Saturday.
