Greensboro College sweeps all men’s hoops awards this week

from the Greensboro College men’s basketball team:

Adam Powell (Stuart, FL/Jensen Beach High) and Chakiris Moss (Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill High School) won the USA South men’s basketball weekly awards presented by the conference. Powell is the player of the week and Moss the USAS rookie of the week

Powell averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per contest as The Pride posted a 2-0 record last week. In a 75-59 win over Emory & Henry, Powell scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out one assist and collected one steal. In an 85-69 win over LaGrange, Powell contributed 15 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Moss 12.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week for The Pride. In a 75-59 win over Emory & Henry, Moss contributed four points, three rebounds, two assists and one block. In an 85-69 win over LaGrange, he scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed one rebound. This is his third straight time winning the USAS rookie honor this year.

The Pride hosts Mary Washington this Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m. at Hanes Gym.
