Girl’s Finals:
Northern girls by around 20 over Eastern Alamance and NG Nighthawks now stand at (5-1)…
Smith 48
Southern Guilford 35

*****The SG Storm stands at (2-3) on the season and their coach Mr. Whitaker was kind enough to pass this score and a basketball to us after the game. Let’s hear from some of you other coaches….*****

*****We were at this game and so were scouts from UNCG and N.C. A&T and it just so happens that the A&T scout had a son playing in the game, his son Frankie Eaves, whose dad Jerry was watching from up on the top row of the visitors bleachers….NWG opened the game with an 11-0 run, before the Pirates got rolling and hit the scoreboard, but it didn’t take long for this game to get tight as you can tell by the first quarter score….*****

  1. I have been checking at dudley site and at MaxPreps and so far no luck and we’ll keep on trying….

  2. NG Girls beat Eastern Alamance by about 20 points. Samantha Coffer was on fire and probably had about 30. The whole team played really well. Another tough one Friday at Eastern Guilford.

  3. gw danville beat dudley 69–62 go to virgininapreps.com go to AAA basketball and see the blog GW player had 2o points 2o boards

  4. WG beat NEG. That makes WG 5-0 there up against SWG @ WG tomorrow night hope its a better game. not to sure of the final score.

  5. Eastern Guilford boys beat Morehead at Morehead last night 66-54. Brandon Hairston had 26 points, Darius Dawkins had 13. Eastern Guilford’s girls won in a blowout.

  6. UNC recruit Hairston to lead Dudley (N.C.) against top-ranked GW in Danville

University of North Carolina recruit P.J. Hairston, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior shooting guard who has verbally committed to the Tar Heels, leads Dudley (N.C.) against George Washington, the No. 1-ranked Group AAA team in the state by VirginiaPreps.com, at 7 p.m. today in Danville.

Hairston is averaging a staggering 38 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for the perennial powerhouse Panthers (4-0), who have played for the North Carolina state championship four times this decade, winning it in 2005 and ’06. He is coming off a 53-point explosion, which set a single-game school scoring record, in a 112-64 thrashing of Southern Durham on Saturday night.

“We’re not going to focus on just trying to stop one player,” GW coach Bobby Martin said. “We’re just going to do what we do.”

Dudley will become the second consecutive high-caliber opponent to set foot on the GW (2-0) basketball court this season, following the Eagles’ 71-55 cakewalk over No. 5 Booker T. Washington on Saturday night. The Panthers are ranked No. 13 in the Southeast Region, an area that encompasses eight states, by ESPNRise.com. PrepNation.com ranks the Panthers sixth in the East Coast Region. The same site ranks GW at No. 10.

“(Fans) should see two good programs,” Dudley coach David Price said. “I know we have a good program. Our records and traditions speak for themselves and likewise with GW-Danville. I think people know what they’re coming to see.”

The Panthers roster includes four players who are at least 6-foot-5. Dudley also features 6-3, 210-pound sophomore guard Reggie Dillard, who is averaging 15 points and seven rebounds a game, and 5-9 senior point guard Brennan Wyatt, who averages nearly 11 points a game and will play at the Naval Academy next season.

GW is led by 6-7, 185-pound junior power forward C.J. Barksdale, who is rated as a four-star recruit by Scout.com and is being pursued by a number of major Division I programs, including several ACC schools.

This contest is the second of five consecutive home games for GW before school lets out for Christmas break. GW, which will return to action for the Danville Register & Bee Shootout on Dec. 26, 28 and 29, plays Dudley again on Jan. 16 in Greensboro.

“We want to get the season started off right,” Barksdale said late last week while discussing the Eagles’ difficult early-season opponents. “It shows us at the beginning of the season how good we are and what all we need to work on.”

  7. What high school basketball team doesn’t have AAU players on it? The Smith and HPC entire girls’ high school teams were AAU teams this fall. NG doesn’t have any more than any other teams around. Look at NW, Page, SE, Bishop, EG….they are all full of AAU players. A lot of the high school coaches put in more time with them than the AAU coaches do. Not sure why NG girls are being singled out…

  8. AAU players play against better competition in most games. These kids are usually not “part time” players. I know for a fact how tough it is to compete at the high school level with no AAU/USSSA players on the roster. It’s like starting from scratch each year.

  9. the score for NG girls was….NG 67 EA 46.
Sam Coffer had an outstanding night with 30 points.

  10. The Dudley/GW game was awesome.

PJ got 3 fouls early and sat the basically the end of first and almost all of 2nd qtr. Foul count got to 4-11 favor of home team before D got some calls late in 1st half. Dudley came out of the half strong, but GW has probably 3 big men (Dudley does not have a true post presence) and Paul Stone big man shooting the trey ball got hot. GW picked up their momentu in the 4th. Dudley never got in a rythm in the sold out game.

Great game! GW is ranked #1 in VA.

They come to Dudley Jan 16…it is a must see.

  11. Just wonder what the score of the NW/ Page game would have been if Vebber was not out most of the game because of foul trouble:-)
