AHS boys coach Brian Nance said his team’s play in the second quarter was the difference in opening up a lead that was too much for the Wildcats to overcome.

“The second quarter, we came out and took off,” Nance said. “We had a lot of energy and intensity. Saegan (Hilliard) passed the ball well inside to (Dayshun) Jones and (Chris) Pratt.”

Our under the radar kid from Randolph County, Saegan Hilliard, had 17 points, 8 assists and 6 steals in a game that was not as close as the score indicates, with a 35-16 Asheboro lead at the half.

  1. WOW!!!I can’t believe that GW-Danville is that good. Or maybe Dudley just had a off game because Hairston had only 17 when he is averaging like 32 points a game..

  2. GW Danville is that good. #1 ranked team in Virginia. Hairston commented in the Danville newspaper that GW just played great defense. Dudley had an off game because of the pressure defense that GW applied till th buzzer. GW is a powerhouse basketball program in Virginia in the public school sector. Dudley will get another chance at GW when they play in G’boro.
