ESPN/Boo Williams Christmas Classic – Hampton, Va.
Semi-Finals (Late Tuesday)

River Mill (NC) – 72
Surry H.S. (VA) – 65

In a tremendously fast-paced semi final contest, River Mill earned a spot in the Championship (Gold Bracket) by outlasting Surry 72-65.

The Lady Jaguars forged to a 23-14 lead by the end of the first quarter. Surry High School fought back with fierce determination in the second and third quarters, to pull within one. River Mill gained a 20-14 advantage in the decisive fourth quarter to earn the victory.

The win set up an all North Carolina Final in the Gold Bracket, as Winston Salem Reynolds narrowly defeated Hampton (VA) High School in the other semi-final. The Championship game will begin tonight at 8:30 p.m.

River Mill 23 14 13 20 = 72
Surry (VA) 14 17 18 14 = 65

First Round (Late Monday)

River Mill (NC) – 42
Warwick (VA) – 40

In the first round of the ESPN/Boo Williams Christmas Classic, River Mill defeated Warwick 42-40. The game was a defensive battle, as both teams were forced to run disciplined offensive sets. A short-range jumper by Christi Spivey gave River Mill a four point lead with 11 seconds remaining in the contest, before Warwick scored at the final buzzer.
