HS hoops tonight with the Conference calling

The conference games kick into full gear tonight and we have some good games to take a look at for Tuesday January 5. Several teams will be playing three games this week as the wars and the gyms really begin to heat up….

Southern Guilford dropped two 3-A conference games to North Forsyth last night(Monday), both boys and girls and we will try and get those scores to you later on today…Boys:NF 75, SG 51……Girls:NF 51, SG 43…..

Many of our games tonight will hinge bigger in the girls standings than they will the boys year-long battles….

Northwest Guilford at High Point Central….NWG got upset at the Pizza Hut and now they face Kenny Carter’s girls in High Point….BTW, the Bison are unbeaten.

Page at Smith….A re-match of the girls Pizza Hut championship game and that’s where we will be tonight….Boys game should be a close one too, if Page can get off to good start early in the game…..Page boys over Smith, 68-61, at the Pizza Hut….

Dudley at Southeast Guilford….Girls game will be a war with Patterson and company facing McNeil and the Falcons….The SEG girls can hang, but for how long?

Grimsley (Off) Back at it on Friday night when they will be hosting Smith….

Greensboro Day School (Off) at Durham Academy on Thursday…..

Ragsdale at SWG….Even matchup for the boys, but in the girls game again, this could be very interesting….Ragsdale was playing like they were on Five-Hour Energy until they got to the Pizza Hut and then they wilted like the lettuce on my last salad at Finnegan’s, but this evening with Lovette and the big girl is supposed to be back for the Cowgirls after getting a few details worked out; this should be a shootout with the young ladies….

Burlington Williams at Eastern Guilford…The Lady Cats grabbed a tournament title last week at home and can they keep it going? Ameriah Jamison has stepped up and she has reached a stage where she is ready to take off for Coach Gunn…Boys, we shall see how they respond as Brandon Hairston and the troops come off the holiday break…

Northern Guilford at Morehead….The Nighthawks’ boys and girls are both coming off of solid performances at the Pizza Hut Tournament and now it’s time to get the conference slate heading in the right direction as well, with two big wins against the Panthers in Eden…At the Pizza Hut, the NG boys were in the finals after topping top-seed Greensboro Day and the girls beat NWG, for what I believe was the first time ever, with a 55-50 final in OT….

Ledford at NEG….NEG boys have a chance to contend for the conference title and we’ll find out if they mean business when it comes to the task at hand as they face the Panthers this evening…Was impressed with their effort at the Pizza Hut with the round one elimination of NWG and I’m not sure if you could call that one an upset, NEG looked to be the better team from start to finish and Bryce Benjamin and Paris Scales need to keep raising the bar and that will determine how far NEG goes this year….

Western Guilford at Southern Alamance…..Should be two wins for the Hornets tonight and I would say, easy wins, but I do not want to put the horse before the cart. The WG boys sort of got lost in the shuffle over in High Point last week and I wish they could have joined the WG girls who made it to the finals before falling to the Lady Cats at EG….WG boys will contend for a playoff spot and so will the girls….Boys will be in a tight battle with Page and Smith just below Dudley and then Grimsley in the Metro….The Southeast boys and Southern Alamance are done before they can have a chance to get in…….

Also on the slate tonight we have:
WS Atkins at HP Andrews
Providence Day at HP Wesleyan(The Trojan men led by the Leeks have a title in hand from last week’s Bank of North Carolina Classic in High Point….)
Oak Ridge at Lexington

Westchester Academy(Off)
Caldwell Academy(Off)
