UNCG Soccer coach Michael Parker set to step down/retire

I wonder how much the fact that UNCG has a brand new Athletic Director weighed into the final decision. Coach Parker spent many years/seasons working with former AD Nelson Bobb and a new AD, Kim Record, comes in and change is the order of the day………

GREENSBORO — UNCG men’s soccer coach Michael Parker, the winningest active coach in Division I men’s soccer, announced his retirement Wednesday.

Parker, 63, has led teams to six national titles, including three at UNCG. His six national titles — five in Division III and one in Division II — rank him first among active men’s collegiate coaches. In 1993, Parker became the first men’s soccer coach in NCAA history to lead a team to the NCAA Tournament in all three divisions.
