Nikki Wilborn(Graham HS) has a career-type day as Greensboro College women claim victory in Danville

Danville, Va. – Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) scored a game-high 31 points as Greensboro College won at Averett, 58-41, on Saturday. Wilborn was 13-24 from the field and made 4-7 free throws.

The Pride improved to 5-7 and 3-4 in the USA South Conference.

“We played a good zone defense and attacked when they got the ball inside,” said Coach Randy Tuggle. “We also shot the ball well. It was good win for us.”

GC shot 43 percent (28-58) from the field and held AU to 23-percent (17-73). The Pride led at the break 34-20.

The Cougars had the edge in rebounding, 52-48. GC’s Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough/Orange High School) and Elizabeth Ferguson (Ruffin, NC/Rockingham County H.S.) both collected 10 boards. Meredith Kelly (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance High) recorded a game-high 6 steals for Greensboro.

Liz Martin had 14 points for Averett (5-4, 2-2).
