Quaker men rock Roanoke 96-62: Guilford improves to (15-1)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clay Henson (Glen Alpine, N.C./Freedom) scored 24 of his
season- and game-high 30 points in the first half to help Guilford College
past visiting Roanoke College, 96-62, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference
men’s basketball game Monday night.

Guilford (15-1, 6-1 ODAC), ranked sixth in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25
Poll, matched its best start since 1967 with its 11th straight victory.

Roanoke (6-10, 3-4 ODAC) held an early 9-8 lead before Guilford reeled off
the next 15 points and opened a 14-point advantage midway through the
period. Henson knocked down six threes in the final 6:15 first half, which
staked the hosts to a 50-30 intermission advantage. For the game, Guilford’s
career leader made eight-of-12 three pointers, one shy of matching his
school record for three-pointers in a game.

Guilford’s Tyler Sanborn (Mount Airy, N.C./Elkin) added 19 points and five
rebounds, which broke his streak of 10 straight double-doubles. Teammate
Josh Pittman (Archdale, N.C./Trinity) matched his career high with 11 points
off the bench. The rookie also contributed three rebounds and a game-high
five assists.

Roanoke’s Parrish Walker (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley) collected 15 points, five
rebounds and five assists, all team highs, before his hometown crowd. Logan
Singleton contributed nine points and five rebounds for the Maroons.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday (1/20) night versus visiting
Bridgewater College in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
