The Atlanta Crackers may be coming back: ‘Whites Only’ basketball league headed to Georgia!

There was a minor league baseball team, the Atlanta Crackers, based out of Atlanta, Georgia several years ago, in the days before the Atlanta Braves; and now we have this news coming in today on a brand new basketball league, that is headed to the state of Georgia….

Is a new professional basketball league announced this week for real, or is it all just some sort of joke or publicity stunt by former pro wrestling promoter Don “Moose” Lewis?

The Augusta Chronicle reported on Tuesday that the All-American Basketball Alliance plans to kick off its inaugural season in June and hopes that Augusta will be one of 12 cities to host teams.

But here’s the kicker: According to a press release the newspaper and other Augusta media outlets received from the new league, “only players that are natural-born United State citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league.”

That’s right. Lewis, who calls himself the commissioner of the AABA, will exclude blacks and all foreigners from his new league, which the newspaper said will be based in Atlanta.

  1. I can understand how some organizations started years ago when other groups legally barred specific groups from joining them. But to have a new group start in today’s time and exclude others via its by-laws on a competitive basis only is crazy. In today’s time, who would really want to join a league that continues to exclude real competition. The bottomline is that no one will attend any of these games and it will be in bankruptcy within 90 days. This is just a sick attempt to get some news time by some group that will never admit they are behind the ad money to create racial tension.
