Eastern Guilford girls over Eastern Alamance from Thursday night

Eastern Guilford traveled on the road to play one of the preseason top-rated
conference picks Eastern Alamance.

Eastern Alamance got off to a terrific start and were leading 12-0 in the opening minutes. Eastern Guilford never lost their poise and closed the gap to 20-14 in the first quarter behind Capricia Smalls’ 7 points.

Eastern Guilford finally gained control of the game at 22-20 in the second quarter
and never trailed. Behind the rebounding of Kristin Crosby and Tierra Smith it
allowed Eastern to battle their towering front line. Miranda Jenkins got hot and
converted on 7 straight baskets including a three pointer to help maintain the lead.

Eastern Alamance closed the gap to four in the fourth 45-41, but it wasn’t enough
as Eastern won its seventh straight conference game and 15th straight overall.
Miranda Jenkins led the Wildcats with 19 points and Capricia Small finished with 15.
Kristin Crosby and Tierra Smith controlled the boards with 9 each.
