Jazz Gibbs(SEG) connects for 18 as Quaker women hit 92 in win over Hollins on the hardwoods

ROANOKE, Va. (2/2/10) – Senior Ann Seufer scored a season-high 26 points to lift visiting Guilford College past Hollins University, 92-75, Tuesday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball game.

The win gives Guilford (10-9, 7-7 ODAC) a sweep of the season series with Hollins (1-18, 0-14 ODAC).

The Quakers took an early 18-6 lead, only to see the hosts rally and grab a 41-36 halftime lead. Guilford took advantage of 44 percent shooting from three-point range and broke out for 56 second-half points. Guilford’s 92 points marked its most since a 92-68 win over Salem College Dec. 3, 2007.

Seufer made nine-of-16 field goals, including six-of-10 from three-point range, and missed her career-high scoring total by two. Junior Lauren LeFevers made five-of-10 shots from beyond the arc and finished with a season-best 19 points off the bench. Sophomore Jazlyn Gibbs(Southeast Guilford HS) scored 18 points for the Quakers and senior Alexa Williams added 12 points and nine rebounds. Guilford made a season-low 11 turnovers in the game.

Hollins rookie Jasmine Greene led all scorers with 34 points and teammate Tamara Phillips added 14.

The Quakers are back in action Friday (2/4) versus league-rival Bridgewater College at 7:00 p.m. in Guilford’s annual Pink Zone Game for cancer research.
