GC runs past UMPI at WMS

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro College baseball team defeated the University of Maine Presque, 17-1, at War Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night. Josh Rogers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) led The Pride at the plate by going 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Corey Saulsbury, one of five Pride pitchers, got the win for GC (2-1).

The GC hurlers held the visiting Owls to just one hit, Tyler Delaney single off starter Murray Smith (Williston, SC/Williston-Elko High School). The Pride broke the game open with 8 runs in the fifth inning. GC had three other players with tow hits in the game: Zach Turton (Huntersville, NC/Hopewell), Logan Beasely, and Bobby Amato (Cooper City, FL/Pembroke Pines ).

Clint Carter took the defeat for UMPI (0-2). The Owls were felled by 7 errors and allowed 7 earned runs.

GC returns to action on Thursday at cross-town rival Guilford College.
