Jazz Gibbs(SEG) steps up again for Guilford College women

LYNCHBURG, Va.(2/16/10) – Jazlyn Gibbs(Southeast Guilford HS) scored 19 points in Guilford College’s fifth straight women’s basketball win, a 65-51 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) triumph at Randolph College Tuesday.

The Quakers move to 14-9 overall (11-7 ODAC) and have their most wins in a season since 2003-04. Randolph drops to 3-20 (2-17 ODAC) with the loss.

Gibbs netted 14 of her points in the first half thanks to three three-pointers and helped the Quakers take a 31-21 halftime lead. She opened the second-half scoring with a three-pointer as Guilford built a 21-point edge. Alexandria Miles handled the bulk of the Quakers’ second-half scoring with 12 points on six-of-10 shooting. She finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Katie Rechnitzer and Lindsay Cross both scored 20 points for Randolph. Cross added a game-high 13 rebounds.

Guilford visits Randolph-Macon College Friday in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
