Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting Stevenson University on Saturday. SU won the first game, 11-10, and took the nightcap, 3-1.

Josh Montague (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) went 3-4 with a double and 5 RBI to lead GC. Grant Kelly and Thomas Fulcher (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory High School) also collected 2 hits for the home team.

In game one, SU rallied from a 5-0 first inning deficit for the win. The Pride put two runs on the board in the fifth inning to take a 10-9 lead before the Mustangs rallied for 2 runs in the top of the sixth for the final tally. Michael Manfro (Fauquier, VA/Notre Dame Academy) started for The Pride. Reliever Brandon Matthews (Chesapeake, VA/Norfolk Collegiate) took the loss.

In the second game, SU broke open a 1-1 game with the deciding 2 runs in the fifth inning. Trey Daniel (Burlington, NC/Western Alamance High) took the defeat on the hill for Greensboro.

Jeff Guerrie (Lewisville, NC/West Forsyth) and Bobby Amato (Cooper City, FL/Pembroke Pines ) had doubles for The Pride.

The Pride hosts Neumann on Sunday at 3 p.m.

  1. That is the Josh Montague who played for the Guilford Patrits about 5 years ago. Thosw Patriots sent a lot of kids to the next level. Maybe they will reappear someday. With all the travel and showcase teams to choose from that hurt the Patriots. Now they are affiliated with Proehlific.
