River Mill only dresses five players, but the Five come Alive and they win the Conference Championship

The River Mill girls basketball team captured the Carolina 9 2-A/1-A Conference Tournament Championship, with a 64-33 victory over # 2 seeded Pittsboro Northwood. The Lady Jaguars were victorious despite only dressing five players.

River Mill started quickly to gain a 31-14 halftime advantage. Northwood then stepped up the pace of the game, but the Jaguars would not falter. Four players scoring in double figures, as River Mill used a balanced attack to earn the victory.

“We only dressed five becuase of injuries, but we executed excellently!” River Mill Coach Hamilton Perkins said. ” We’re very proud, because our girls played with unwavering focus and unyielding tenacity. We hope to recover from our injuries, and we hope to continue playing like this in the State Playoffs.”

The Lady Jags won their 16th consecutive game.
