Sunday March 7th at 2 pm Rockingham Community College baseball will be holding an open tryout for 2010 graduates. This is a free evaluation of a players ability to be a part of the RCC baseball program. We do ask that prospects email Coach Marks at RCCBaseball@yahoo.com to confirm your spot and get a release form

Last time I checked you were supposed to recruit college baseball players not ask them to come to a free evaluation??? Hit the pavement and go recruit!

    ALL I Know right KNOW?
Thanks for your interest in our program and I will take this post as a willingness to donate to our programs recruiting budget. Many times young men and women in other sports are overlooked, or just flat out missed in the recruiting process. We choose to take a look at players that have genuine interest in our college 1st since they have been the most successful in our program. I do however feel certain that we can count you or your son OUT for the work out. But THANK YOU for taking the time to post.

Why would I go to RCC when Guilfords JV team can beat you, I know you don’t have a good recruiting budget but do you think Guilford does + $30,000 tuition. Good lUck.

  • Coach said,

Point made, You must be right.

You are describing 2 programs on 2 very different budgets. The coach is making an effort to help kids and give kids a chance that may not have been noticed. Keep trying to help others Coach.

  • Coach said,

    Thanks Joe
you have hit the nail on the head. just looking for good kids that can play as well and will Represent our College well

    Coach,

Sounds like you have a good approach toward the game.

There is so much talent in this area that gets missed by the big schools that you should be able to field a good team made up of local guys.

No need to go South for talent with whats available here.

With the lazy recruiting methods that D-1 coaches are now using, many talented players (without the financial resources to travel the “Circuit” and market themselves ) become available to all levels of college ball.

If the current recruiting methods continue, all divisions of college baseball will equalize in a few years.

Imagine, a coach that actuallys wants to look at players with his own eyes for free and form an opinion based on what they can actually do versus the paid for hype that has overtaken college baseball recruiting. Why would any one take issue with this approach. If you are a player its an opportunity for you demonstrate for yourself what you have to offer and its for free.

ALL I KNOW, I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR STATEMENT BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED.
THE HIGH SCHOOL SEASON AND COLLEGE SEASON OVERLAP SO THERE ARE FEW CHANCES TO SEE PLAYERS IN A LARGE AREA. YOU TEND TO SEE COACHES GOING TO GAME BETWEEN TWO QUALITY PROGRAMS SO THEY CAN GET A LOOK SEE AT MORE THAN ONE GOOD PLAYER. THE MARGINAL PLAYER AT A SCHOOL THAT HAS A BASEBALL TEAM AND NOT A BASEBALL PROGRAM HAS VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF BEING SEEN. NOW,THESE PLAYERS PAYS GOOD MONEY TO GO TO A IMPACT SHOWCASE WITH HUNDERDS OF OTHER KIDS FOR A SHOT AT BEING SEEN. ALOT OF COLLEGES HAVE SHOWCASES( MINE WENT TO HIGH POINT UNIVERSITY AND UNCG) AND PAID TO GO TO BE SEEN. THIS IS A MONEY MAKER FOR THESE PROGRAMS. WHEN A C/C DOES NOT GO OUT TO RECRUIT OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OR THE COUNTRY BUT OFFERS LOCAL KIDS A CHANCE TO BE SEEN AND PLAY, I HAVE TO SAY “HATS OFF”. PLAUS HE IS NOT CHARGING $200 FOR A TWO DAY SHOWCASE.

  • you dont know right now said,

well take it like this coach you don’t have to worry about all i know right now his son doesn’t play or can’t play so he is on the outside looking in wishing his son could try out. but he is afraid you will cut him. so since he had something so stupid to say about your way of recruiting i thought i would say something just as stupid as his post . get a life all i know right now thats a great job of trying to find talent. it just shows you don’t have to pay some one to tell them your kid is good and keep the money and you leave with a false hope. good job coach there is talent in guilford county.
