The Dudley Panther boys have only lost to one team from the state of North Carolina this season and that was the Saturday night loss back in early January to Kinston at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill…..

The Panthers other losses have come to two teams down in Florida at the Christmas Tournament in December, and losses to three teams from Virginia in GW Danville, Phoebus, and Oak Hill…..

The Northern Guilford Nighthawks have two losses on their record and they came against Grimsley in the Pizza Hut Tournament finals and to Greensboro Day School in a re-match from the PHI semifinals at GDS back in January…..

NEG has 10 losses on their record, but if they check closely, they will find that the N.C. State Wolfpack had 10 losses on their record, when they made their run and won the NCAA title with a championship game victory over the Houston Cougars back in 1983……

Please explain to me how #1 plays #2 in the opening regional game,I mean I didn’t get a Ph.D in rocket science !

  • Andy said,

You can’t have two teams from the conference facing each other in the first round(Regionals) and I believe that is the deal with West Charlotte and Lake Norman….

That is why they put Dudley-WC together and Ardrey Kell-Lake Norman together…..

At least I’m pretty sure that’s what Que Tucker(NCHSAA) said…..

There are 8–#1 seeds. To get to play a #2 means atleat one other #1 got beat.

    Per NCHSAA…
Just as a point of clarification– the pairings for the regional tournaments have always been redrawn after sectional play. It is not an automatic that the winner of one sectional advances against the winner of another as may be displayed on the sectional brackets. This practice has been going on for over 20 years.

Overall records and conference representation are considered; for instance, two teams from the same conference would not meet in the regional semifinals but would be in opposite brackets if at all possible.
