Scouting report on West Charlotte Lions, Dudley’s next opponent in the NCHSAA playoffs

Three of the West Charlotte Lions are on Dave Telep’s Top 100 list with JR. Jacoby Davis(PG), Soph. Julius Hamilton(F) and Fresh. Kennedy Meeks(C)…Junior forward Anthony Estes(6’7), has also earned his way on to several key scouting reports/lists….Team leader, guard JT Terrell, is already on his way to Wake Forest in the fall of 2010 and he has averaged 31ppg this season and that total has been right at 38.5 ppg, over his last 8 games…..

from Click Here on last Friday night’s West Charlotte-Watauga game with comment from the Watauga Pioneers coach:

“The scouting report said they struggled against the 1-3-1 (zone) and T.J. Terrell would be a heck-of-a player and he was. Once they started lighting up from the outside, and our kids, they weren’t comfortable in the 1-3-1 anymore and felt like they wanted to go back to the pressure, so we did and tried to keep the ball out of his hands and when he got it to try and contest it.”

Terrell, who is bound for Wake Forest, scored 39 points after being helped by making eight 3-point shots. Terrell capped the quarter by making a 26-foot 3-point shot at the buzzer. It also capped a 10-0 run in the quarter’s final 37 seconds, aided by four foul shots – two because of a Watauga technical foul – and Terrell’s jumper, a result of the possession the Lions got after the technical.*****Terrell scored right at 40 points last year versus Dudley at Dudley, when he was still with Burlington Cummings…*****

West Charlotte also helped itself by scoring the first seven points of the quarter, turning a two-point deficit into a 21-16 lead Watauga would never regain.

West Charlotte also got 19 points from Jacoby Davis and 10 points from Brandon Richardson.

The Lions, behind three straight 3-point baskets by Terrell, pushed their lead to a game-high 29 points (64-35) with less than two minutes left in the third quarter. Watauga was able to close out the third quarter and closed to 67-44.
