Josh Montague(Northwest Guilford HS) goes 5-5 as Greensboro College Pride win 8-3 at Bridgewater, Virginia

Bridgewater, VA — Josh Montague (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) went 5-5 with two doubles as Greensboro College won at Bridgewater College, 8-3, on Friday. Freshman starter Taylor MacDonald (Pinebluff, NC/Pinecrest High School) got the win for The Pride.

Montague, who also scored twice, led a GC offense that produced 18 hits. Logan Beasley (Liberty, NC/Eastern Randolph High School), Thomas Fulcher (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory High School), Murray Smith (Williston, SC/Williston-Elko High School) and Michael Parker (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance) all had two hits apiece for Greensboro. Tyler O’Neill (Columbia, Md/Oakland Mills) knocked a home run for the visitors.

MacDonald hurled 7 1/3 innings, allowed three runs and scattered nine hits. He struck out four and walked two Eagles. Brandon Matthews (Chesapeake, VA/Norfolk Collegiate) tossed a perfect 1 2/3 innigs to close the game for The Pride.

GC improved to 4-6 and BC dropped to 3-6.

The Pride opens a two-game weekend series at Shenandoah on Saturday.
