The 6-foot-5 senior turned in a game players dream off as he put the Gryphons on his back in posting a decisive 85-64 win over Northeast Guiflord in the NCHSAA 3-A East regional finals at East Carolina’s Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Tashawn Mabry turned in a dominant performance to lead Rocky Mount past Northeast Guilford, 85-64, in the 3-A Eastern Regional championship on Saturday.
Mabry, voted the 3-A regional’s Most Valuable Player, scored 37 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked five shots — all game highs — for the Gryphons (23-3), who had to come from behind to win their regional semifinal against Northern Guilford, 65-62, on Thursday night.
