The Carolina Phoenix women’s tackle football will open the 2010 home season April 10th at Western Guilford High School at 7pm against the Palm Beach Punishers.
This marks the 4th season for the Phoenix which has been one of the most successful teams in the country the past two seasons losing in the national semi-finals in each previous season.
The Phoenix are comprised of ladies from all over the state and various walks of life. The Phoenix play in the Independent Women’s Football League which was created in 2000 by a group of women dedicated to making the sport a household name.
The IWFL currently has over 1600 women playing the sport for 51 teams across North America from Southern California to Montreal and Washington to Florida with consistent expansion into to new markets.
