Thursday final from the Burlington Times-News:
MT. HERMON — Eddie Sappelt supplied a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Charles Harris picked up a complete game victory as Southern Alamance defeated Greensboro Page 4-2 in a Metro Conference baseball game Thursday night.

Rob Pearce went 3-for-4 with a double for the Patriots (4-1 overall, 2-0 Metro Conference). Harris registered 4 strikeouts for the Patriots…

Today Friday March 19:
Southern Alamance at SEG(This could be the game your mamma used to talk about, with the two conference unbeatens from the Metro 4-A going at it at Southeast…Southern might have been saving their ace pitcher for today’s game and we will know some time shortly after 7:18, when the SEG Falcons will due up at the plate….This is one of the bigger early-season games in our area and I plan on being at this one and plan on parking down by the tennis courts, because the lot up by the baseball field will up fast. This promises to be one of the hottest contests in the county tonight….)*****Only loss this season by SEG was the 2-0 defeat at SWG in game one(Non-conference) and Southern Alamance fell 5-3 to Forsyth Country Day also Non-conference.*****

Grimsley at WG
Smith at Dudley
Ragsdale at NWG
SWG at Glenn
Northern Guilford at McMichael
HP Central at WS Parkland
HP Andrews atl Trinity
Southern Guilford at Ledford
NEG at SW Randolph
Rockingham County at Eastern Guilford
Caldwell Academy at Westchester Country Day

Western Guilford’s gonna win this thing. WG Hornets and Metro for life. Metro Conference is the best and the others are all secondary if you’re ask me.

  • whirlie fan said,

I hear you Hornet but the Metro 4A conference (baseball) isn’t what it used to be. Just a couple years ago Metro 4A was a battle for the top between 3 strong programs…Northwest, E. Forsyth, and Grimsley. NW and E. Forsyth are no longer part of the conference and Grimsley has decided to go in a different direction. Your Hornets are pretty good, I think SEG and Dudley are decent, I’m not sure about S. Alamance yet, and Grimsley, Page and Smith all stink. So I agree, WG might win the conference but I’m not sure I would get too pumped.

SE wins the conference, hands down!

GLENN 10 SW 2 THE CATS CLAWED HARD TONIGHT AGAINST SW #1 PITCHER, SW HITTERS LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD LIGHTS IN THERE EYES, MAYBE IT JUST WASNT THERE NIGHT. BUT GLENN HIT IT HARD WHEN THEY WASNT WALKING AROUND THE BASES.

  • joe said,

Metro conference has never been weaker. Western may win it but they need to play someone. Grimsley lost 2 players to injury and an infield starter to grades. The’re down as well as Page and Bartlett. Dudley is a little better and Northern is decent with carter on the mound. SEG has a chance to win it.

to the whirlie fan how can you be a fan and say your own team stinks? i would not want you as a fan . page is better than you think , dudley is very good southern alamance has a good team as well. so you must not watch baseball much because you are blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other. you play with what you have , i don’t think any kids want to lose or go on the field to lose on purpose. they are playing hard to win just like everyone else so give it a break whirlie fan.

  • whirlie fan said,

i don’t know, mr. stinky. what do you think? there’s only one eye i don’t see out of very well and it has no baseball sense at all. the whirlie baseball team two years ago, they were in the 2nd round of the state playoffs and looking real solid. then the administration at GHS decided to…i don’t know what. I like winning teams and it looks like to me like GHS athletics have taken a downturn. but everybody is getting playing time! are you happy?
