NC Wesleyan tops Greensboro College in Saturday baseball

Greensboro, NC — NC Wesleyan defeated Greensboro College, 16-9, in a USA South game on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

Hitting trumped pitching as the teams combined for 33 hits. GC had 15 hits and Josh Montague (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford), Matt Irwin (Asburn, VA/Stone Bridge), Bobby Amato (Cooper City, FL/Pembroke Pines ) and Quinn Finnegan (Ft. Lauderdale, Fl/Plantation High School) all had two hits in the contest.

Brian Allen hit for the cycle for the Bishops. He went 4-5, with a home run, a triple, a double. Allen scored twice and two RBI.

Max Nowles got the win for the Bishops. GC’s Trey Daniel (Burlington, NC/Western Alamance High) suffered the loss.

The Pride dropped to 7-15, and 0-5 in the USA South. NCWC improved to 9-12, 3-2.

The teams meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
