Greensboro College puts the cuffs on Tufts as the Pride take a winning ride, 17-3 over Jumbos

Greensboro, NC — Michael Parker went 4-6 with a home run and six RBI as Greensboro College defeated Tufts University, 17-3, on Tuesday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Pride handed the Jumbos (4-1) its first loss of the year. GC improved to 8-16 and knocked 13 hits in the game. Tufts committed four errors and gave up seven unearned runs.

GC starter Jacob Cadle (Denton, NC/Westchester County Day School) got the win. He threw 6 2/3 innings, allowed three runs, struck out nine and walked three Jumbos. Brandon Matthews (Chesapeake, VA/Norfolk Collegiate) then allowed just one hit in 1 1/3 innings. Ethan Ellington (Eden, NC/Rockingham County High School) pitched a perfect ninth inning for Greensboro.

Josh Montague (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) went 3-5 for the home team. Thomas Fulcher (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory High School) and Tyler O’Neill (Columbia, Md/Oakland Mills) both had two hits in the contest.

GC hosts Oglethorpe for a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
