Lee Reavis leaving Glenn, will be new boys basketball coach at NWG

GLENN BB Coach will be the new head coach at NWG.

We received this news in our GOCB(Gripe or Complaint Box) this morning and the word coming in at 6:16 am from our NWG fan has been confirmed in this afternoon’s N&R on-line at www.news-record.com……

Lee Reavis will become the new boys varsity basketball coach at Northwest Guilford for the 2010/2011 season…..

I believe the recent lineage of Nortwest Guilford boys coaches has gone something like this and I may be off a name or two, but this is close.

Lee Reavis-Beginning 2010-2011
Manny Bloom-2 seasons
Mike Everett-2-3 seasons
Anthony Long-5-6 seasons
Wayne Knox-8-10 seasons
Sandy Gann-A long time…..
Roger Nelson-Original coach…..

Lee Reavis has previously been the head coach at Glenn HS and before that he was the assistant at Glenn working under Coach Robert Fulton….

Reavis played high school basketball at Northwest and I believe he was there during the Wayne Knox era and he came through NWG just before Rusty Larue and Jason Ferguson, who led the NWG Vikings to several glory years in boys basketball….

Reavis has a solid background, plus he is no stranger to the NWG sports community and was there during the times of BJ Green who went on to play football at North Carolina, Donnie Redmond who played football and baseball at Guilford College and Mike Green who came in just after Reavis graduated from NWG and he went to play football at Wake Forest….

At Glenn Reavis coached names such as Eric Wallace who went on to play DI hoops, and the big Chris Jacobs kid who was a big basketball player and later got drafted by the LA Dodgers…..He also coached the Singleton kid that went on to play DI ball…

  1. Good Luck to Coach Reavis. I hope he sets the ground rules straight from day one with the parents. No three strike system. First strike you are out of here!!!

  2. The whole truth is not being told about the NWG Boys basketball issue. There were a WHOLE lot more issues that just the parents.

  3. Out of respect to Coach Reavis we are hoping everyone is ready move on and put the past behind them and let the NWG Vikings start looking toward a new chapter in the boys basketball program…

We feel that Coach Bloom would want it that way and that Coach Reavis is ready to get reved up and put this team in high gear for next year….

The past is behind you and better days are ahead if what Coach Reavis did at Glenn can be brought over to the NWG program and we wish him the best as he prepares for next season with the Vikings……

  4. You are correct he was a couple of years before the Rusty Larue and Jason Ferguson era at NW. He also played Tight End for Coach Charlie Groves….Great hire for NW basketball. Coach Reavis is a great man and will be a perfect fit to lead the Vikings back to glory!!!

  5. As long as he doesn’t bring those tight *** rims from the Glenn gym with him, it sounds like it could be a positive move for the NW boys basketball program. For what it’s worth, I don’t know many details regarding Coach Bloom’s departure, but I think he & his staff did an above average job as far as on the court coaching goes from what I saw. Good luck to both.

  6. Tell it Right, just don’t start trying to dig up trouble. You all think you know so much about NOTHING!!! Leave it alone.

  7. I hope the new coach is allowed to coach without any parental interference. Just remember, the coach will play the best players. His goal is to put a winning team on the floor and to turn your children into better athletes and people. The coaches don’t get paid very much so they are doing this because they love the game. Between Mr. Kitley and the new coach, they know the game of basketball so leave them alone and let them do their jobs. It was fun to watch the NWG boys play this year, but the off the court activities were ridiculous. I am looking forward to a great 2010-2011 season.
