Hilliard to Guilford
Saegan Hilliard, a senior guard at Asheboro High School, has signed to play basketball for the Guilford College Quakers. Hilliard led the Blue Comets to an 18-7 season and a tie for second place in the Mid Piedmont 3A Conference where he led the conference in assists and scoring with 23.6 points per game. With unlimited range from the outside and an ability to penetrate through defenses to get to the basket drawing fouls, where he hit 77% of a whopping 222 free throws for the season.
Hilliard played AAU basketball with the NC Gaters where he was a member of teams that won three consecutive USSSA D3 state championships, is a four year varsity player and scored 1,091 points at AHS, a two time All-Tournament selection at the Courier Tribune Christmas Tourney, a two time Courier Tribune All-County selection, NC Preps 3A All-State as a junior, two time Mid Piedmont 3A All-Conference selection, and the 2010 Mid Piedmont 3A Conference Player of the Year. He averaged 22 points per game over his last 52 games for the Blue Comets during his junior and senior seasons.
Hilliard is a member of the National Honor Society and has a 4.5 GPA. Saegan chose Guilford because of the relationship he had developed with the coaches and for the strong tradition of both academics and basketball at the school.
