Gripe or Complaint Box for April 2, 2010

Mid-morning Madhouse from 10-12 Noon, Lunatics Lunch Hour from 12-2pm, and Afternoon DeFight from 2-6pm…..

Got any new Gripes or Complaints?????

This is the box for Friday April 2, 2010. We are taking those gripes and complaints and we have to remind you to keep it real on your subject matter.

We will be cleaning out the box at the end of each day and we may have to do some cleaning throughout the day if the material gets too thick.

Local gripes or complaints, National gripes or complaints. Is there anything that is rubbing you the wrong way? How about that coaching change or the kid that just left one high school/college and is transferring to another? What about the kid that got left off the All-Conference team or the All-State team?

Is there a school board member that really has you upset???

Let us know, and by the way, do you have anything new for us today?????

  1. Virtually no coverage at all of the JV tournament held at Stoner-White. Anyone know how it went?

  2. Why did the News & Record include Bishop McGuinnes in the All-Guilford High School Winter Sports Team? Isn’t the school in Kernersville, which is in Forsyth County? You might as well include East Forysth players, that school is in Kernersville too..

  3. To CJones:

Maybe the Bishop kids were included because 60 percent of Bishop’s enrollment is from Guilford County. Bishop’s Aaron Toomey, the runner-up for state player of the year, is a Greensboro kid. Should the News & Record exclude Greensboro kids just because Greensboro doesn’t have a Catholic high school?

Heck, not all of the kids at the private schools in Guilford County are from Guilford County. GDS usually has a bunch of AAU imports, some who aren’t even from the 336 area code (Anyone remember Johnny Thomas a few years back? He was from Down East). And just last year, Northern had at least three prominent basketball players who weren’t from Guilford County (two from Mebane and one from Yanceyville).

  4. With all due respect JD, CJones has a point. The East students at least played Guilford teams. Bishop McGuiness basketball teams (men or women) played ZERO Guilford County teams regular season or playoffs.

School not in GC+ played no GC teams = all guilford. Go figure. This math doesn’t work. Don’t care how you spin it with your other points.

Don’t think you want to go there with the exclusion statement. Many all conference players that live in GC where excluded from at least HM all guilford in favor of non GC players and non all conference players.

Bottom line is when BM played a GC team last year, no huge numbers put up. If you are going to cover the sport, make sure you know the difference between difficulty of 3A/4A versus 1A competition night in and night out
