  1. Day 1 ResultsApril 4, 2010By Denis Vass of Graham High School

The day began just like it ended in the Graham Athletic Boosters Invitational Easter Baseball Tournament-with no hitters.

Southeast Guilford started things off with a 2-0 win over Chatham Central. Falcon pitcher Tyler ggart pitched a complete-game, 7 inning no hitter. ggart was far from perfect-he walked 3 and hit 1 batter, but still pitched effective enough to pick up the win. Blake Butler, the #9 hitter for the Falcons, smacked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 2nd ininng to score all of Southeast Guilford’s runs. Adam Kirkpatrick was 2 for 3 for the Falcons.
Cody Kirk of Chatham Central pitched a good game too, lasting 5 inings, giving up only 4 hits, while walking 3.

In game 2, Western Guilford bested Eastern Alamance 10-2. Hornet pitcher Mark Leake pitched 5 innings, allowing just 4 hits, and 2 runs. Billy Humphrey was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, while Casey Jones was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI for the Hornets.

In game 3, the Warriors of Western Alamance scratched out a 7-2 win over the Warriors of Alamance Christian. Chris Lowe allowed only 1 hit in 5 innings. Alamance Christian only managed 3 hits total for the game. Zac MacAnneny was 1 for 4, reaching base 3 times by errors, and scored 4 runs. Adam Smith was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.
For Alamance Christian, Jon Racke pitched 6 innings, allowing only 4 hits, but giving up 7 runs, of which only 2 were earned. He struck out 6 Western Alamance batters. The Alamance Christian Warriors committed 7 errors on the field.

In the nightcap, Graham’s Treston Early finished the day like it began-with another no-hitter. Early pitched 5 innings, due to the 10-run mercy rule. Graham won 10-0. Early was far from perfect, too. He walked 3 Bulldogs, and struck out 4, while leaving only 1 runner on base.
The Red Devils shook off the rust of not having played since last Thursday, but it took 4 innings before they could do that. Graham exploded for 8 runs in the 4th and 5th innings.
Cody Dix was 1 for 2, a double, and 3 RBI. Rigeberto Mendoza wazs 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, while Matt Holley was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, and scoring 3 runs.

    Monday’s schedule is as follows:
10:00 am: Chatham Central (4-8) vrs Eastern Alamance (3-8)
1:00 pm: Alamance Christian (4-8) vrs Durham School of the Arts (2-5)
