Lynchburg with the ODAC whack, Hornets on the attack in their 15-2 win over Quakers

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Brock Shifflett was 4-6 with six runs batted in (RBI) in
Lynchburg College’s 15-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball
win over Guilford College Wednesday.

Shifflett’s two-run double keyed the Hornets’ (18-13-1, 8-7 ODAC) four-run
second inning that provided all the run support for starting pitcher Conner
Thompson (4-3). Lynchburg carried a 6-0 lead into the seventh inning and
scored nine times in the final two frames. Thompson threw eight innings of
five-hit ball with four strikeouts.

Mike Walters was 4-5 with a homer and three RBI for Lynchburg. He missed
hitting for the cycle by a triple. Cameron Grant had three hits, along with
teammates Jeff Taylor, Jr., and Jordan Watkins. The Hornets banged out 22
hits against five Quakers’ pitchers.

Alex Starbuck had two of the Quakers’ (14-21, 5-11 ODAC) five hits in the
game. Drew Ward’s two-run single in the seventh scored Guilford’s two runs.

Guilford visits Bridgewater College Saturday (4/17) in an ODAC doubleheader.
