Touchdown, Touchdown, Touchdown Tigers is what they used to say when this kid was carrying the ball back in high school, as Toney “The Tiger” Baker, a true touchdown maker, would take that football to the house….

Toney will watching to see if gets a chance to take his game to the big house, in the NFL, over the next couple of days and what do you think????? Will TB be drafted or will he end up signing as a Free Agent? As a fan or follower, how do you rate Toney Basker’s stock as the NFL teams prepare to make their picks/decisions…..

Will the knee injury really hold him back, or will is final year at N.C State and post-Pack workouts for the NFL scouts be enough to get Toney signed, sealed and delivered by the end of the draft????? Or does TB have to wait and see which team will come after him after all the selections are complete and the free agent choosing begins?????

Any thoughts on this one and here is what Jeff Mills was saying in today’s N&R and more from the News and Record on-line edition when you Click Here…….

And now, at last, it’s Toney Baker’s turn to get his shot at the NFL.

The first round of the NFL draft starts at 7:30 p.m. today (ESPN). Baker knows his name won’t be called tonight, and probably not Friday in the second and third rounds.

Saturday is a different story.

“I expect to be drafted. Definitely,” Baker said. “I went on visits to the San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans. They both liked me a lot. I’ve been getting a lot of calls from other teams, too. You just never know with the draft.”

Some analysts peg Baker as a sixth- or seventh-round draft choice. Others say the 23-year-old runner from N.C. State is more likely to pick his own team as a free agent.

“I’d be disappointed if I didn’t get picked,” Baker said. “Absolutely. But there’s nothing I can do about that. I’m a little nervous. I’m anxious, especially with them making it three days this year. It’s a lot of waiting.”

I think Toney Baker will end up in San Diego with the Chargers by way of free agency.

  • Smitty said,

I don’t see Baker making in in the pros. I say his knees won’t be able to cut it in the NFL.

No draft pick and no free agent signings!

Good Luck with the Broncos. Just try and avoid the Tebow hoopla.
