WEST POINT, N.Y. – Clint Moore(Grimsley HS) went 5-for-7 with a home run, four runs scored and three runs batted in to lead Army’s offense and the Black Knights clinched at least a share of their third consecutive regular season Patriot League championship and the top seed and home field advantage for next month’s conference tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Lafayette, Sunday afternoon at Doubleday Field.

Completing its fifth Patriot League doubleheader sweep of the season, Army defeated Lafayette 7-4 in the first game, then posted a 5-2 victory in the nightcap. Sitting atop the conference standings with a 13-3 Patriot record, the Black Knights own a four-game lead over both Holy Cross (9-7) and Lehigh (9-7), which stand tied for second place with four games to play. Army holds the tie-breaker over both teams by virtue of the Black Knights’ series wins earlier this month.
